"my cuppa' joe" is Cool Beans!

I walked up the steps to my apartment and what to my wondering eyes do I see, a cute little box filled with Gina K Designs stamps. I was giddy with excitement. Like a 6 year old girl on Christmas morning. I grabbed the box and hurried into my apartment. I put my bags down and ran to my stamp room. I tore open the box and salivated over the cool new stamps. I mounted the "my cuppa' joe" first and then I mounted "Have a Cookie". I could wait no longer. I made a card using my cuppa' joe. I just love the sentiments in this set. The Cool Beans sentiment has got to be one of my favorites. Here is my card:

I used Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, and Baja Breeze CS. I used Memento Rich Cocoa to stamp the images and SU Close To Cocoa ink for the sponging. There are little blue rhinestonse on the blue and green mugs. And I used up a scrap of green ric rac on the one corner. It matches Wild Wasabi perfectly.

God of Love

I was going through my stash and found some fun stuff I received as a gift a while ago from my niece. She bought me a pack of packaging tags and some silver metal "Love" embelishments. I forgot I had them. So I challenged myself to use them. After browsing the Dirty Gallery this morning, I was totally inspired and this is what I made:

I really like the Wild Saffron DP from K & Company. It is absolutely gorgeous. I covered the tag with a piece from that collection. I used Close to Cocoa & River Rock with the paper and it matches nicely. That pretty pearl brad is also from K & Company. I picked up a pack of them at Ollie's Bargain Outlet last weekend. I paid $1.29. Wow, very cheap. I added some ribbon, linen thread and primas. I used the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch. The stamped sentiment is from God's Blessings (Stampin' Up!).

I also embellished the inside. I have noticed some stampers finish the insides and I really like the look. So now I am doing that as well.

Smilin' Hoodie Challenge

Gina K Designs released lots of fabulous new sets last night. She threw a big party and her DT members hosted some challenges. Melanie challenged us to make a card using at least 3 different Gina K Designs stamp sets. She used 5 in her sample, so I decided to do the same. Actually I used 6 if you include the retired SU set, Great Shapes to make the large polka dotted backround.

I used the following GKD sets: Little Tees, Just So Sporty, Autumn Leaves, Whimiscal Autumn, Hip Hop Accessories.

I also added a special touch to the inside of the card.

I think I will give this card to my best friend. He can always make me laugh and he loves bright colors.

There are 2 more challenges posted in Gina K Designs Forum on SCS that are calling my name.

Groovy Girls in Retro Colors

I have been playing with some new colors that I don't normally use together. They kind of remind me of retro style 50's or 60's. Not sure what decade these colors were popular, but I am pretty sure it was before I was born. LOL!!

So I found a cute chipboard album kit by Maya Road at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for $7.99. I believe the kits sell for at least $20.00 normally. The kit contained some white core textured card stock, designer paper, chipboard pieces, stickers to match the DP, an 8 x 8 naked chipboard album and some page protectors.

I used some of the DP and card stock to make this card. First I stamped the girls from the retired Stampin' Up! set Girlfriends using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Georgia Pacific White card stock. I colored them in using PrismaColor and Bic Markit markers. I layered the colored image onto some Olive Green Textured CS from the kit. Next I layered Orange Textured CS onto more of the Olive Green Textured CS. I layered a piece of Yellow DP onto the Orange. I cute a slit into the stamped image and base to thread and tie the yellow gingham ribbon. I layered everything onto Marigold Morning {retired} from Stampin' Up! I pulled out a felt flower that I bought several months ago from Target's Dollar Spot. I added a large brown brad from Basic Grey and attached it to the card.

Krafty Thank You Card

Jess from Gina K Designs asked us to make a Thank You card for someone in our life that we are thankful for. I made this Krafty square card using the So Grateful by designed by Rupa Shevde. I used some gorgeous DP from K & Company {Wild Saffron collection}. The card base is Kraft from Stampin' Up! The acorn is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored in using PrismaColor and Bic Markit Markers on Very Vanilla CS. I layered the the acorn onto Close to Cocoa & Old Olive. I added some Chocolate tafetta ribbon and a few green Dew Drops from the Getaway color collection. I stamped the Thank You sentiment using Dark Brown Color Box Chalk Ink.

Elegant Black Tee

I still have not had enough of Melanie's Little Tee set. And just when I thought there could not be a cooler set than this one, Melanie designs another. Last night Gina K Designs released 5 new stamps sets. One of the sets designed by Melanie Muechinger contains a Hoodie Sweatshirt and a cute short sleeve base ball jersey style shirt (at least I think that is what it is, I'm not that sporty). But my niece is involved in Cheer leading and wants to play basketball. So this set is on it's way to my stamp studio. :o) Yeah baby!!!

Back to the Elegant Black Tee. I made this about a week ago, but haven't had a chance to download it from my camera. I am borrowing my friend's brand spankin' new computer to test drive it. He wanted me to try it out. How nice of him. It is very nice. So I finally installed Photoshop and the software for my Kodak EasyShare camera.

I used Bazzil Black card stock for the base and the tee. I stamped the flower sprig from Gina K Designs Comfort & Peace set using VersaMagic Cloud White chalk ink on the black textured card stock. Then I used a Gel Bursts metallic gel pen in pink and colored the buds to add some contrast. I also added little rhinestones to the center of each flower. Adds a little bling to my elegant tee. I pulled out my Kraft card stock that I never use and an old die cut of tags from SU in Kraft. I stamped part of the same flower on the tag in the white chalk ink and added another little rhinestone. I stamped Love from the Little Tees set on top of the flower. I inked the edge of the tag with black ink to add some more contrast. Both Kraft background pieces are stamped with Tres Chic background stamp from SU. I used VersaMark ink on the top Kraft layer and black on the bottom Kraft layer. I added some ribbon and button brads. Then a little Kraft colored flower with a rhinestone brad center. And voila a cute little elegant black tee card.

Card Details:
Stamps: Little Tees, Comfort & Peace {Gina K Designs} & Tres Chic {SU}
Paper: Black textured {Bazzil}, Kraft & Purely Pomegranate {SU}
Ink: Ranger Black, VersaMark, White VersaMagic, & Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: black stitched ribbon, black ric rac, linen thread, Kraft tag, Kraft Prima flower, MM rhinestone brad, mini rhinestones, & MM button brads

Snowmen Invading My Space

I've started making snowmen cards and I can't stop. They are everywhere in my stamping space. Well, Beate is back with her weekend sketch challenges. Her first sketch challenge since she has returned was actually contributed by another SCS Rock Star, Jenn Balcer. I love square cards and circles, so this was a fun challenge for me. I used one of my favorite color combos, Bashful Blue, Real Red & White. I also added a touch of green.

Here is the sketch from Beate's blog:

Here is the snowman card I made for the challenge:

Card size 4 1/4" square.

You can also join in on the fun by going to her blog. Have a super Saturday. And I hope you have a chance to get a little inky.

The Frog and the Princess

So far I have 2 sets designed by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K Designs. I used both of them to make this princess tee. I stamped the ringer tee from Little Tees with Chocolate Chip onto GP White card stock. Then I stamped the frog from Hip Hop Accessories with Olive Green Stazon ink. I stamped the frog slightly off the tee. I like that effect better. I colored the frog in with my Mellow Moss marker. I added a second layer of ink to make the color a bit deeper. I stamped Princess, also from Hip Hop Accessories onto the tee with Cameo Coral. I added a tiny rhinestone above the 'I'. I like the tee on a circle base, so I cut several with my Fiskars circle cutter. I distressed the edge of each with Chocolate Chip ink and layered them. I added the tee using foam tape for dimension. I ran Chocolate grosgrain ribbon around the card front hiding part of the ribbon behind the circle. I did this by cutting a slit along the lower side of the shirt. I like that look a lot. I added some ribbon and string (colored with a green Bic MarkIt Marker) to the little clip. I also glued a green rhinestone to the center of the clip handle. It fit perfectly. I used a retired SU background stamp Dots and Daisies for the background. And I added white to the centers of the flowers using a white opaque pen. I also used my sakura glitter pen to highlight the frogs belly, under legs and her eyelashes.

Card Details:
Stamps: Little Tees & Hip Hop Accessories {Gina K Designs} and Dots and Daisies {SU}
Paper: Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip, & GP White
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Pad, Olive Green Stazon, Green Bic MarkIt Marker & Cameo Coral marker
Accessories: circle cutter, bull clip, large green rhinestone, small clear rhinestone, chocolate grosgrain ribbon, string, white opaque pen, & sakura glitter pen

Holiday Snowman Tee

I love snowmen. They are a symbol of cold weather and childhood. Who can forget Frosty and his adventures? I have a lot of snowmen stamps, but don't seem to use them that often. So I pulled out one of my old favorite background stamps I purchased a few years ago. It has snowmen and other winter stuff all over it. I also pulled out an older SU set, A Merry Season. I wanted to create a winter tee with my favorite stamp set, Little Tees from Gina K Designs. I stamped one of the snowmen from that set on the corner of the tee; capturing just part of his face and body and the present he holds proudly on his twig hand. I colored the background, snowman, and the tee with PrismaColor pencils and used a PrismaColor pencil to blend. I layered them as you can see here. For the sentiment, I cut two different size circles with my Fiskars Circle Cutter. I stamped "Holiday Happiness" from So Many Sayings on the Wild Wasabi layer and added 3 small black brads. I raised the tee by adhering it with foam tape (love that stuff). The card size is 4 1/4" square.

Card Details:
Stamps: Little Tees {Gina K Designs}, A Merry Season & So Many Sayings {SU}, Holiday Background {Uptown Designs}
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, & GP White
Ink: Ranger Archival Black
Accessories: black brads, PrismaColor Pencils & Blender Pencil, Wild Wasabi ribbon, Circle Cutter {Fiskars}, & foam tape

Snow, snow, snow...

I am so ready for beautiful, glistening, pure white snow. I know, you think I'm crazy, right? I can't help it. I love snow and snowmen. They are the best kind of men. LOL! So in tribute to wanting snow, here is my snowman card. I've had this stamp for years and never really used it. I was never that good at coloring. But with the help of the many talented people at SplitCoastStampers, I have improved my coloring. I really like how this turned out. I used SU Markers to color him. I also read the thread featured in the newsletter on Wednesday about shading. I liked the idea of using the Sahara Sand marker. So I tried it here. It doesn't look too bad. I used a fairly simple layout with not much added. It took longer to color this little guy than it did to put the card together. The label on the wood block indicates the stamp is from Stampassions. I never heard of the company, but I am glad they made this stamp. He was very fun to play with.

Card Details:
Stamps: Starlight Snowman {Stampassions} & Sentiment M255 {My Sentiments Exactly}
Paper: Bordering Blue, Creamy Caramel, & GP White
Ink: Markers {SU}, Brown ink pad {Stamps by Judith} & Close to Cocoa Classic Pad
Accessories: brown ribbon, moss gingham ribbon, word window punch & Sakura stardust clear pen

Skater Dude

I love 4 day weekends. And the weather in this area has been amazing. What better way to spend a few days off in this wonderful weather than to attempt the color challenge on SplitCoastStampers. I love this color combination; Elegant Eggplant, Taken With Teal, & Old Olive. I used some more of that cute turtle shell paper that I found in my old stash. I also was enabled to purchase the Bic Markit Markers that were on sale last week at Target. They work great for coloring ribbon to match my projects. I used Plumtastic Purple to color some white grosgrain ribbon. It matches Elegant Eggplant perfectly. I used the turtle from Gina K Design's new set "Whatever Float Your Boat", designed by Rupa Shevde. Isn't he such a cute little dude?

Card Details:

A Moment of Silence for Another Group of In-Colors

Well another group of In-Colors from Stampin' Up! bites the dust. I will miss them all. The SCS color Challenge for last week was to use any or all of the retireing in-colors with a neutral color. I decided to use them ALL to make a set of square cards with some NEW Gina K Designs stamps. I stamped the short sleeve t-shirt outline stamp from Little Tees on GP White with Brown ink from Stamps By Judith. I stamped the butterflies from Tagger's Dozen using each in-color on a different shirt (minus River Rock). I made markers using re-inkers and Fantastix from Tsukineko and used them to color the collar and sleeves of each shirt. I cut short pieces of matching stitched ribbon, knotted the ribbon and layeried it on River Rock strips. I stamped Hello from Gina K's Summer Harvest stamp set. I adhered the River Rock strips to 4 1/4" square cards. I cut out the t-shirts and stamped them with the Linen background stamp using River Rock ink. I attached the t-shirts with foam tape.

Card Details:
Stamps: Little Tees & Summer Harvest {Gina K Designs}, Tagger's Dozen {SU}
Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, River Rock & GP White
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, River Rock , & Brown {Stamps By Judith}

Sweet Strawberries

I bought some bright and yummy DP made by K & Company called Berry Sweet. I didn't have any stamps to go with the fruit themed sheets of paper. That is until Gina K released her new free with 3 set called Summer Harvest. I made sure I purchased all three new sets so I could get this one for free. I used the strawberry from the set to make 2 different cards. The first card uses that yummy Berry Sweet paper. The other I used some other DP (not sure of the manufacturer).

Card Details
Stamps: Summer Harvest {Gina K}
Paper: Summer Sun, Green Galore, Real Red, GP White & Berry Sweet {K & Company}
Ink: Real Red & Ranger Archival Black
Accesories: white brads, round tab punch {SU}, circle scallop punch {Marvy}, ribbon, & paper piercer

Crazy for Cute Little Tees

Gina K Designs released 4 new fabulous sets last month. My favorite set was designed by Melanie Muenchinger and it's called Little Tees. There are 3 different T-shirt stamps and tons of phrases and small images to put on the shirts. It is a great set for paper piecing with all of the amazing DP that is our there right now.

For my first card I used some gorgeous DP I picked up at a Local Scrapbook Store a few weeks ago (Fancy That in Hummelstown, PA). I stamped the outline tee stamp on the DP and cut it out. I added some stickles to the large flower centers and used my glitter pen for the collar and to outline the tee. I used the butterfly from the set to stamped the background. I really like this color combination (Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, and Chocolate Chip).

Card Details
Stamps: Little Tees {Gina K}
Paper: Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip & Hey Sugar, Honey Honey DP {Cosmo Cricket}
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accesories: pewter brads, Icicle Stickles, chocolate tafetta ribbon, & foam tape

For my second card I pulled out some old DP that I've had for years. I actually pulled this out to use with another Gina K set that I just received. I'll share that with you later. I stamped the long sleeve shirt stamp onto the DP and cut it out. I sponged the sleeves with extra ink to try to cover the design on the paper. I then stamped "2COOL" with VersaMark and brushed silver PearlEx onto it. I think next time I'll emboss it to make it stand out more. I pulled out one of these pewter charms that I picked up a few months ago from ACMoore. I stamped the little flower from the set onto the charm and strung it onto some cording. I poked holes above the shoulders and pulled the cording to the back to make it look like a choker.

Card Details
Stamps: Little Tees {Gina K}
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Olive, DP {company unknown}
Ink: VersaMark, Always Artichoke & Chocolate Chip
Accesories: pewter brads, grosgrain ribbon, cording, pewter charm, circle cutter, paper piercer, & foam tape

For my third card, I chose to make a circle card. Flaxy Chic challenged us to do this during the release party. They are challenging to work with, but fun. I found some old pink splattered DP that goes perfect with the Sultry DP from Basic Grey. I purchased the Basic Grey DP and brads from Gina K. I love the Sultry line. It is gorgeous. And the 6x6 pads are great.

I stamped the long sleeve tee onto the pink splattered DP and then stamped the flower trio from the same set onto the shirt. I cut it out and added a pink Sultry brad and 2 teeny rhinestones to the flowers. I also outlined the tee with my glitter pen. For the card base, I cut out two 4 1/4" circles with my Fiskars circle cutter. I scored one of the circles about 1" in from the edge. I glued them together on the scored edge and added two pewter jumber eyelets to secure it. I tied pink tafetta ribbon to to the edge through the eyelets. I cute a smaller pink circle and layered that on top the base. I used some scrap Sultry DP by layering it onto Chocolate Chip and glueing it to the card. Then I trime the edge to round out the one edge. I made the little tab with the SU Round Tab Punch. I layered a small piece of Sultry DP. Then I stamped "hello" from the Expressive Flexible Phrases SU set, trimmed it and glued it to the tab. I added a large pink rhinestone and two small pink sultry brads. The small scalloped circles are from a punch I bought in the Target dollar spot a while ago. I put it all together and here is what I ended up creating.

Card Details
Stamps: Little Tees {Gina K}, Expressive Flexible Phrases {SU}
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Olive, Sultry DP {Basic Grey}, & pink splattered DP {company unknown}
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accesories: pink brads {Basic Grey}, pink taffeta ribbon, circle cutter, rhinestones (large pink and tiny clear}, mini scallop circle punch, jumbo pewter eyelets {SU}, glitter pen {Sakura} & foam tape

Inspired by an Outhouse?

Last Saturday Itsapassion from SCS was the guest hostess for the Inspiration Challenge. She shared some really cool country pictures from Kay Lamb Shannon's gallery. The main image she chose was an outhouse with a rooster. Well I have had this outhouse stamp for years and had no idea what to do with it. This challenge forced me to get it out and use it. I mounted it on some DP covered chipboard, added jumbo eyelets and the ric rac so it can be hung on a wall. My mom's master bathroom is the country outhouse theme. I plan to give it to her and she can hang it up there.

Card Details
Stamps: His & Hers {Impression Obsession}, Country Borders & Antique Cracking {SU}
Paper: Ruby Red, Kraft, Georgia Pacific White, DP {manufacturer - not sure}
Ink: Ranger Black, Close to Cocoa, & Chocolate Chip
Accesories: brads, ric rac, jumber eyelets & foam tape

A Surprise Shower

We are having a surprise shower for someone at work and I volunteered to make the card. I've had the Bundle of Joy set that I borrowed from a friend a while ago and decided to get it out and use it for this sweet baby card. I also pulled out some Basic Grey Sugared Designer Paper. I love that stuff. To make the "textured" teddy, I first stamped Very Vanilla with Creamy Caramel using the Linen Background stamp. Then I stamped the bear in Close To Cocoa. I cut out the bear and tied the little ribbon around the neck. Then I created a bunch of layers and put the bear on the pink square with foam tape to add dimension. I added the little butterfly above the sentiment on the circle because apparently the nursery will have butterflies. I hope she likes it.

Card Details:
Stamps: Bundle Of Joy, Linen BG, Cute Converse {SU} & butterfly from Mini Flower Building Kit {Inkadinkadoo}
Paper: Cranberry Crisp, Bazzil Pinks, & Basic Grey Sugared
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Close To Cocoa, & Mauve Mist
Accesories: Various Pink Ribbons, MM Mini Button Brads, Ticket Corner Punch, Circle Punch, & Circle Cutter

Playing With Fabric

I was at my mom's house the other day and she was cutting out squares to make a quilt. I noticed all of the beautiful patterns she had and ask to have some scraps of some of the fabric. Here are two cards I made so far using some scraps. It was easy to work with the fabric. I simply cut out a piece of white or vanilla card stock the size I wanted to use on the card and added some adhesive from my ATG tape dispenser. Then I mounted the fabric onto the card stock and trimmed with my rotary paper cutter. I dusted off my sewing machine and added some stitching around the border of each. Here are pictures of both cards:

Details for Bird Card:
Stamps: Flourished Birds {inkadinkadoo}, So Many Sayings & Linen BG {Stampin' Up}
Paper: Close To Cocoa, Wild Wasabi, Creamy Caramel, Blue Bayou
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa

New Banner

Now that I decided to try to be more active in posting to my blog, I also decided to "jazz" it up a bit. The standard templates are a bit boring for a blog that expresses my creative side. So I spent some time in Adobe Photoshop tonight and came up with what you see at the top. I also searched the forums over as splitcoaststampers and found a link to a great blogger design resource.

Here is a link to the resource Tips for New Bloggers.

I also changed some of the colors to match my banner colors. I wanted to keep it kind of simple, yet me. We'll see how long this one lasts. I'll probably play with a little more in a week or two. :)

Well, I guess it is time for sleep. Hopefully I can stamp tomorrow and post something.

Birthday Gifts

My grandma turned 92 on the 21st. I was planning to make a special card, but my mom also suggested making a frame to put in a picture of myself and my sister. She doesn't have any current pictures of me or my sister because I take most of the pictures and can't take them of myself and my sister doesn't allow anyone to take her picture. So we went to my mom's house on Sunday and she took a picture of the two of us together for the frame. Here is the frame without our picture. I used a cute white square frame I picked up from Ikea a few years ago. I used Basic Grey Blush paper to cover the frame front and then added prima flowers and rhinestones to really bling it up!! The stamped flower & sentiment is from Gina K's Comfort and Peace set.

I also made a cute little card with the Owl Always Love You set {also from Gina K}. She has such cool stamps. The sentiment is from her set You Know Your Old When. And on the inside I stamped the sentiment
"everything hurts - and what doesn't hurt doesn't work."
When I read it to my grandma, she said she must not be old then. Which is funny because she doesn't really get around too much and I assumed that was because things hurt or don't work. I stamped the background with some clear stamps from the dollar bin at ACMoore {Studio G, I believe}.

Perfect Weather for Stamping

Well the weather is gorgeous here and perfect for spending some time creating. I decided to catch up on some challenges on SCS and upload some cards a created in the month or two. Before I get back to stamping I thought I would add an entry here with a card I made for the Color Challenge from this past Tuesday. I never use Kraft card stock, but I love it with Soft Sky and Basic Black. I also love this bird set from Inkadinkadoo. They are all so beautiful. So here it is:

Father's Day Project

Here is a cute little coupon book to make for Father's Day.

I created the inside pages using Microsoft Publisher. The first page contains a scripture from the Bible that tells us to serve others as if we were serving the Lord. Very good words to remember. The second page is a sample of one of the coupons. The coupon can be customized by writing on the first line what it can be used for and the second line is to sign you name.
